I do not need no bayes stuff, all I need is DNSBL-based message tagging for the selective download (in the Bat!).
My goal is to save traffic by not downloading any SPAM-tagged messages. The possible false-positives should remain on server for later validation|manual removing.

Could you please make a SpamPal-like plugin that simply scans a header for IP addresses, makes DNSBL queries and adds a header field accordingly?
No auto-message_erasing or junk-folder management is expected. The simpler - the better.

The only reason to look for something to replace the SpamPal with is the need to work on an SSL-protected connection.

You can use the following steps to make the plug-in filter messages by headers only:
- Open Servers tab
- Create new account or select an existing item
- On POP3 page of account settings select the filtering mode "Filter messages on server by headers"

When this mode is enabled, the plug-in doesn't filter the downloaded messages. The message headers are filtered using DNSBL, black and white rules, black and white lists of addresses, black words in subjects. The plug-in marks as deleted the messages, recognized by one of the methods as spam. The email client doesn't see them, but these messages stay on the server, while there are the corresponding records in Filtering log. It is possible to restore any message with the status "Deleted from server" by selecting the corresponding log item and pressing the toolbar button "Restore deleted message". There is no need in changing the message subject and using selective download. TheBat downloads the headers of all ignored messages during each mail checking. And it is hard to restore some ignored message. I understand that you have got into the way of filtering messages using SpamPal, but AntispamSniper's way is more convenient and easy in use.

Also, I guess that you've had bad experience with some naive Bayes based filters. AntispamSniper uses a proprietary statistical algorithm, which has a significantly better characteristics. I'd advise you to give it a try before setting the restricted filtering mode for accounts, because DNSBL has a relatively high ratio of false positives in comparison with the trained content filtering algorithm.

Not exactly what I need.
See below.

My primary goal is to save the traffic, not to somehow manage the spam in the in-box.
I strictly use the Selective download - I may want to skip the 100%-genuine ham if I'm in some certain conditions - like on the GPRS connection or roaming.
The antispam plugin should just help me to arrange the tick-boxes - unticking the relevant Receive position (the Delete tickbox is managed by the Bat! itself - I set it to ignore the tagged messages).
So no bayes algo - naive or super clever - will ever be activated here.

OK, just forget about the last paragraph of my previous post.

The plug-in does selective downloading by itself, without changing the subjects and managing filters in TheBat. So actually the plug-in already does what you described above. Please ask if something is not clear in my explanation, because from my point of view the described requirements are satisfied completely by the existing plug-in features.

The only difference then is that I do not see what's ignored and why.
I'd like to have more information on what's going on during the retrieval connection.

You can find all required information in the Filtering log. To open it use the toolbar button "View log..." or the button with similar text on Statistics page.

Yes, probably this could work...
But seeing all the info in the the Bat!'s own Connection manager window is much, MUCH, more convenient.
