Let me try to explain things in short. The most important and effective filter in AntispamSniper is a trainable statistical text classifier. It learns the differences between spam and normal messages when you train it on the messages of different classes, and then uses that information for classifying other messages. When you mark a message as junk or not-junk the plug-in is updating its internal statistical model and thereby recognizes spam with better accuracy. Note, that you have to train the plug-in both on junk and normal messages. Because that is the only way for the plug-in to understand what messages are unwanted for you and what should not be filtered ever.
